The Smallpeice Trust: Girls into Engineering

The Ove Arup Foundation has announced support for the The Smallpeice Trust project Girls into Engineering – Humanitarian Engineering.

This is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) educational programme to encourage more girls to enter a STEM related higher education, apprenticeship and career. This will help to increase the percentage of females engage in professional engineering.

Participating Girls will be more aware of the diversity within engineering and the multi-disciplinary nature of engineering. This programme will allow participating girls to become more confident and motivated in pursuing educational goals and careers in STEM.

Participants will change their perception of engineering and allow them to challenge the stereotypes of engineers and engineering.

This Grant will support secondary school STEM Enrichment Days (each for up to 60 children) and places for girls to attend a Humanitarian Engineering summer residential four-day course at the University of Warwick.
