MSt in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE)

altDesigned for young professionals aspiring to positions of influence and leadership, the MSt in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE) offers the opportunity to develop the breadth of understanding demanded of senior designers and decision-makers.

The IDBE programme draws together individuals from all built-environment disciplines, encouraging them to explore pressing issues that cross the boundaries of conventional specialisms and enabling them to develop the new perspectives and insights that stimulate strategic thinking.

Team working is essential to the design process, so one of the prime aims of the IDBE programme is to assist professionals to work effectively with other disciplines and use the capacities of the whole design team to the full.

Run jointly by the Departments of Architecture and Engineering, the IDBE course requires students to attend seven residential study periods of six days in each of two years. Being a part-time course, students are able to maintain professional commitments at an important stage in their careers. A shorter course leading to a Diploma is also available.
