Prestige lecture's focus on 'total design'
The Ove Arup Foundation hosted a prestige lecture on Monday 6 September at 4.00pm, where Professor Emeritus Peter Jones delivered a lecture entitled 'Why are three heads better than one? or: How to prepare for a new Enlightenment' in the Playfair Library at the University of Edinburgh.
Professor Jones is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and former Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, University of Edinburgh. He is the first researcher to have had full access to the vast private Arup archives, and is the author of the biography of Ove Arup. He gave an insight into Ove's views on total design and offer thoughts on the need to transcend disciplinary boundaries and challenge obsolescent concepts.
An MP3 audio file of the lecture and subsequent question and answer session is available on our Events page.
